This year the Department of Psychology at our Faculty marks its 20th anniversary. The celebration took place during the International Conference Science Beyond Boundaries, September 21-22, 2017. To commemorate such an important milestone, the organizers presented a short film documenting the history and academic achievements of the Department. In the award ceremony, the prominent professors were acknowledged for their work and contribution to the development and sustainability of the Department in the turbulent times. The recipients of this prestigious award were: former heads of the Department of Psychology, Momčilo Simonović, PhD, prof. Ljubomir Kasagić (posthumously), and prof. Miroslav Krstić, as well as prof. Petar Kostić (in retirement). In addition, the organizers initiated an annual award for the best MA thesis in psychology, named after our distinguished professor, Ljubomir Kasagić. This year’s laureate was Suzana Kolić, MA.
Department of Psychology is the second youngest department at the Faculty of Philosophy, established in 1997-1998 at the initiative of the then Rector of the University of Priština and the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. In their first years, the Department aimed all their efforts at providing their students with quality study programmes and adequate teaching staff. After 1999 and the forced relocation of the University from Kosovo and Metohija, the Department continued its academic work first in Niš, then in Blace. Since establishing its new seat in Kosovska Mitrovica in 2002, the Department has experienced a steady increase in the number of full professors and teaching associates, as well as students. The Department currently offers accredited BA (September 27, 2010) and MA (November 29, 2013) studies.
